Remodeling contractor in Saratoga Springs, NY
Porches, stairs, kitchens, bathrooms and decks for Saratoga Springs homes, from century-old Victorians to newer construction.

What we build in the city
- Porch rails, balusters and steps on older houses
- Kitchens designed around original brick and trim
- Bathroom remodels and refreshes
- Decks, stairs and railings
- Built-ins, staircase repair and restoration carpentry
Many Saratoga Springs homes are well built and full of original detail, with plaster walls, turned newels, deep porches and century-old brick.
We aim to preserve that detail while updating how the house functions. Recent projects include a kitchen built around its original brick chimney, new scroll-cut porch balusters, and a staircase restored rather than replaced.
Historic districts
Parts of the city sit in historic districts, where exterior changes can need Design Review Commission approval before work starts. If your home is in one, we include that review in the project plan and schedule.
Planning around track season
The city is busiest in July and August, and many homeowners rent their houses during the meet. If you plan to rent, we schedule exterior work to finish before the season begins.
Unforeseen conditions
Opening an older wall can reveal rot, knob-and-tube wiring or unexpected framing. When that happens, we inform you the same day, and any change to the scope or price is agreed in writing before work continues.
Permits
Decks, structural changes and most remodels require a city building permit. We plan for permits and inspections from the outset.

Frequently asked questions
What homeowners usually ask before a site visit.
Are you based in Saratoga Springs?
Yes. Refined Space Crafters is a design-build firm based in Saratoga Springs, and most of our work is within a short drive of the city.
Can you work on an older home without losing its original detail?
Yes. Where practical, we repair original trim, brick, stairs and porches or rebuild them to match, and we finish new work to suit the house.
My house is in a historic district. Can you still do exterior work?
Yes. Exterior changes in the city’s historic districts may require Design Review Commission approval, and we build that step into the plan and schedule.
How does pricing work?
After a site visit, we provide a written estimate with the scope of work, the price and a payment schedule. If the scope changes during the job, we agree on the change and its cost in writing before proceeding.
